Sandy:Cars::Glisan:Bikes, Part I

In the Eisenhower Era of postwar car culture, Sandy Boulevard reigned supreme as the model of the neighborhood thoroughfare. There's even an online Smithsonian Exhibit  that celebrates its past. Today in Portland, Ore. the adjoining Glisan Avenue exists as a nexus to a new ideal--just like the lot on which The Ocean sits that connects the two streets. Enjoy this video of cars travelling Sandy Boulevard in 1939 from the Portland History blog Cafe Unknown.
